The original
Historic Heidelberg and Capitol House Hotels are being
restored in Downtown Baton Rouge. Constructed around 1920,
the Heidelberg served as Headquarters for many of Louisiana
Governor Huey Long’s historic “deal making” meetings. The
Capitol House was added to the complex in the 1950s. The new
renovation, combining both hotels will bear the Hilton Flag
and contain 275 guestrooms and meeting space overlooking the
Mississippi River. Construction began in late 2004 and is
scheduled for completion in 2006. The building is being
renovated to its original Interior and Exterior design, and
is receiving Historic Tax Credits.
