A New Office Building for Baton Rouge's Leading
Philanthropic Organization
This
22,000-sq. ft., three-story office building will be the new
home of the Baton Rouge Area Foundation. The project is
located in the central business district of Baton Rouge,
Louisiana. The building will house the various office and
administrative functions of the Baton Rouge Area Foundation
and should accommodate their expected growth over the next
several years. In addition to traditional office functions
the building’s conference rooms and training room facilities
will be made available to the local non-profit organizations
for their use.
The building design successfully responds to the urban
revitalization design guidelines established by Plan Baton
Rouge. The Owner is particularly interested in sustainable
design. Major design guidelines include the selection and
use of recycled building products. The use of the latest
technology for the purpose of energy conservation while
maintaining market rate construction costs and traditional
construction techniques are incorporated into the building.
Selective harvesting of daylight and the use of dimming
systems allow for an energy conserving lighting system for
the building. Selection of energy efficient HVAC systems
including a heat recovery system, the careful attention of
the building envelope detailing and controlling direct
sunlight exposure into the building reduce the air
conditioning system capacity by approximately 40 tons.
It is the intent of the Owner this building demonstrate that
sustainable design issues can be incorporated into the built
environment without sacrificing quality and can deliver the
building within competitive market rate costs.
